Police have arrested singer Patrick Mulwana, alias Alien Skin on allegations of assaulting Nsambya Hospital medical staff
This followed a fracas in which two security guards and a medical staff were severed injured by members of Alien Skin’s gang that raided the hospital after one of the gang members who had been admitted died.
In a statement on Wednesday afternoon, Police spokesperson, Kituuma Rusoke said the singer had been arrested.
“We have in our custody musician Patrick Mulwana, alias Alien Skin, whom we have apprehended on allegations of assaulting medical staff of Nsambya Hospital,” Rusoke said.
In a statement earlier, the hospital said one Joram Tumwesigye was brought to their emergency department having been crushed by a truck, which reportedly pinned him against a wall but later died after his condition deteriorated.
“Unfortunately, despite all efforts, his condition deteriorated rapidly, and he succumbed to his injuries. His remains were handed over to the Uganda Police for a post-mortem examination,”Nsambya said in the statement.
The hospital however said later, unknown individuals attacked the facility and assaulted some of their staff “demanding for information about the deceased.”
Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire said one of the aggressors identified by a witness as ‘Alien Skin,’ allegedly demanded medical forms from the attending doctor who refused to heed to the request.
“ When his demands were not met, the suspect and his group reportedly assaulted the doctor and two security guards before fleeing the scene,” Owoyesigyire said.
Alien Skin is not new to violence, having been involved in several incidents where his gang has tormented members of the public.
For example in May this year, the singer and his crew beat up Galaxy FM journalist Evelyn Mic during the Galaxy Zzina Carnival at Forest Park Buloba.
She reported a case of assault to Buloba Police Station under SD REF: 02/06/05/2024.
