The board of directors of Stanbic Bank Uganda has announced the appointment of Mumba Kalifungwa as their new Chief Executive Officer.
Kalifungwa has been the Absa Bank (Uganda) Managing Director.
In a statement, the Stanbic bank board said Kalifungwa starts work on March, 1, 2025 and that his appointment follows regulatory approval .
“Mumba brings to our team, nearly 30 years of post- qualification experience, 20 of which have been dedicated to serving in the banking sector, mostly in senor leadership roles covering business, development, risk management, strategy formulation and finance strategy in three African markets of Botswana, Zambia and for the last five years- Uganda,” the Stanbic board said.
Mumba holds a master’s degree in business administration from Herriot Watt University in Scotland and is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants( United Kingdom) and the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants( AICPA- UK).
He also previously he served as Chief Financial Officer for Absa Bank Botswana Limited since 2015. Prior to that, he was the Chief Financial Officer for our operations in Zambia.
“Given this broad experience, and his most recent work in the country, the board is confident the bank will continue to thrive under Mumba’s leadership as we pursue our purpose of driving Uganda’s growth.”
Mumba replaces Anne Jjuuko who was early this year elevated to head Stanbic’s parent company Standard Bank’s East Africa regional currency markets and sits in Nairobi.
