House of Prayer Ministries’ senior pastor, Alyosius Bugingo has broken the silence about the assassination attempt on him by unknown assailants on Tuesday night.
““God has just given me another chance to live. There should be no fear or worries, we shall go through this by God’s grace. Do not be misled by anyone claiming that I am dead. I’m alive. This is not an old video because the bullets were fired last night and I am speaking now. I’m alive,” Bugingo said on Wednesday afternoon.
Police on Wednesday morning said the attack saw assailants open fire on Bigingo’s vehicle before swiftly escaping the scene on a motorcycle.
His bodyguard, Corporal Richard Muhumuza attached to the Special Forces Command however died during the attack.
Speaking of the attack, Bugingo extended condolences to the bodyguard’s family.
“I am still alive, thank for you for praying for me, and I ask you to continue praying for me. Unfortunately, our servant Richard Muhumuza lost his life. I was able to rush to Mulago Hospital where I received treatment, and they have sent me more doctors to give me more treatment. I’m in a stable situation.”
Police had earlier said investigations into the incident had kicked off, noting that they make use of CCTV cameras around the scene of crime to aid them.
