Jamie Vardy, Leicester City’s legendary striker, has announced he will leave the club at the end of the current season, drawing the curtain on an extraordinary 13-year journey with the Foxes.
The 38-year-old forward, widely regarded as the greatest player in Leicester City’s history, confirmed his emotional departure in a heartfelt message, admitting that while he knew the day would come, it doesn’t make it any easier.
“I feel gutted this day is coming, but I knew it would come eventually. I have had 13 unbelievable years at this club, with lots of success, and some downs, but the majority all highs,” Vardy said.
Since joining Leicester from Fleetwood Town in 2012, Vardy’s rise has been nothing short of remarkable. From non-league football to becoming a Premier League champion, his story is etched into football history.
He scored 198 goals in 495 appearances, with his most memorable chapter being the club’s fairytale Premier League title triumph in 2016 a feat that defied all odds and stunned the footballing world.
The club confirmed his exit on their official X page, writing: “Our greatest ever player, Jamie Vardy, will depart Leicester City this summer.”
Despite the departure, Vardy made it clear that Leicester will always remain close to his heart.
“Leicester will always have a place in my heart,” he added.
As the season nears its end, fans will prepare to say goodbye to the King Power Stadium king.
