Two bodies were on Wednesday recovered following a heavy downpour that pounded Kampala.
The rain that started at around 5am subsided at around 10am
Uganda Red Cross Society spokesperson, Irene Nakasiita said two children were found dead after the heavy downpour in Mulimira Zone, Bukoto, a Kampala suburb.
“ It is alleged that the mother left them in a room and she went to fend for them at night. By the time the rain started in the morning, she hadn’t returned home,” Nakasiita said.
She said the Red Cross team was called to support the community after houses were flooded and property destroyed, leaving to the recovery of the two bodies.
“Our assessment team is still on ground, working with the local leaders and the Police. We continue to encourage people to be vigilant and cautious of their safety as the heavy rain season sets in.”
