Uganda’s Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Among, has joined millions of believers worldwide in praying for Pope Francis, who is currently battling a pneumonia-related illness.
Through her official X handle, Among expressed her prayers for the Pope’s recovery, drawing from scripture to offer hope and encouragement. She quoted Psalm 30:2, which reads: “Lord my God, I called to You for help, and You healed me.”
“We join millions of believers around the world in praying for his speedy recovery,” she wrote. “On behalf of the Parliament of Uganda and myself, we express our heartfelt get-well wishes to the Holy Father. May the Lord grant him healing.”
Pope Francis has been hospitalized at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital for the past 11 days due to double pneumonia.
According to the latest update from the Holy See Press Office, the Pope’s condition has shown slight improvement in the past 24 hours.
They further noted that his mild kidney insufficiency, which had raised concerns in recent days, has subsided.
A chest scan conducted on February 26, 2025, revealed a normal progression of the lung inflammation, providing some reassurance to the Catholic community.
As the Pope continues receiving treatment, Catholics and believers worldwide are holding prayer sessions in churches and sacred spaces, seeking divine intervention for his full recovery.
The 87-year-old Pontiff has faced several health challenges in recent years but remains a central figure of faith and leadership for over 1.3 billion Catholics globally.
