The Director General of the Internal Security Organisation(ISO), Brig Charles Oluka has died.
Brig Oluka died on Wednesday evening according to the deputy spokesperson for the president, Faruku Kirunda.
“He died at Sseguku hospital where he was rushed this evening,” Kirunda said on social media.
The circumstances under which he died are however not yet known but it is said he had complications with the heart and could have led to his death.
Oluka was in 2020 appointed as the new Internal Security organization(ISO) Director-General to replace Col. Kaka Bagyenda.
He had previously served as the Director of technical services at the spy agency until 2018
Brig Oluka is credited for changing the face of ISO which had been tainted by some of the operations it carried out during the tenure of Col Kaka.
ISO was prior to his appointment cited in several scandals and arrests of several people who were also allegedly tortured and detained in safe houses but since Brig Oluka’s appointment, almost five years ago, the internal spy agency has not been cited in such scandals.
Oluka was in February last year promoted to the rank of Brigadier by President Museveni.
