Police in Kampala have kicked off investigations into circumstances under which a vehicle caught fire along the Kampala- Entebbe Expressway.
The incident according to Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, happened on Sunday evening at around 8pm when they received a report of a burning vehicle near Nambigirwa Bridge.
“Fire Prevention and Rescue Services responded swiftly and successfully contained the blaze. The vehicle, a Subaru with registration number UBB 837 C, was found unoccupied at the scene,” Owoyesigyire said.
Owoyesigyire said fortunately, the two occupants of the vehicle escaped unhurt.
He said investigations will help come to the bottom of the fire but said two more vehicle fire incidents have been reported recently along the Entebbe Expressway.
“We urge all motorists to ensure that their vehicles are in good mechanical condition before setting off. Additionally, we advise drivers to carry portable fire extinguishers to help control fires before they escalate and cause extensive damage.”
