Three people have been rushed to hospital for medical attention after being injured during a crash at the Namboole flyover on the Kireka- Bweyogerere road.
The Friday morning accident according to traffic police spokesperson, Michael Kananura saw a Nissan Fuga registration number UBG 615A collide with a Toyota Hiace taxi, registration number UAX 036F.
“According to preliminary reports, the Nissan driver traveling from Bweyogerere to Kireka collided with the Toyota Hiace traveling in the opposite direction amidst heavy rainfall injuring 03 people including both drivers and a passenger in Nissan. The impact also caused the Nissan to catch fire,” Kananura said.
He said the Police fire brigade responded and extinguished the fire with the taxi driver being rushed to Ggwatiro Hospital, while the Nissan driver was referred to Nakasero Hospital for medical attention.
Kananura added that both vehicles have been towed to Bweyogerere Police Station for further investigation.
“Due to heavy rainfall and limited visibility, we urge motorists to prioritize road safety. Park and wait for the weather to clear if it’s hard for one to clear see,” he advised.
