In a move to enhance access to high-quality building materials in Eastern Uganda, Uganda Baati Limited has launched its 15th showroom in Iganga.
The region has been a known entry point for substandard and counterfeit products, including construction materials. This new showroom marks the company’s second in the Eastern region, following the successful establishment of a showroom in Jinja.
According to the Economic Policy Research Center (EPRC), 40% of Ugandan businesses suffer from the impact of counterfeit and substandard goods.
Uganda Baati, a leading manufacturer of steel building solutions and a member of the Safal Group, aims to combat this trend by expanding its reach.
During the grand opening, Uganda Baati CEO George Arodi remarked, “For years, I’ve been concerned about the deteriorating quality of roofs in this region. We’ve seen roofs fading and changing colour, but today, we are answering the call for better materials. With our presence here, those who make the right choice won’t face the issue of faded roofs again.”
The growing threat of counterfeit and substandard goods in the Eastern region has compromised consumer safety and fostered unfair trade practices.
The new showroom will not only provide high-quality products but also serve as an information hub.
Patrick Katende, Head of Service Centers and Sales at Uganda Baati, emphasized the strategic importance of the showroom, stating, “We are bringing our services closer to the people of Iganga. This will boost sales for local hardware stores and give contractors access to genuine products with confidence.”
Local leaders, including Deputy Mayor of Iganga Peter Omalla and Nakavule Parish Chairperson Waiswa James, applauded Uganda Baati’s initiative, urging residents to support local investors and embrace growth opportunities.
The new showroom will offer superior steel roofing sheets and other building solutions, serving contractors, architects, and residents alike.
This development is part of Uganda Baati’s wider strategy to make quality building materials accessible to all Ugandans, reinforcing its 60-year legacy as a trusted provider of roofing solutions in the country.
