South African Amapiano star, Mas Musiq, made his highly anticipated East African debut with a thrilling performance at Club Guvnor in Kampala.
The electrifying event, held on the night of September 13, was sponsored by I&M Bank Uganda and the newly launched tequila brand, Don Julio.
Fresh off the release of his latest album, Lane Yam, which dropped at midnight the same day, Mas Musiq arrived in Uganda ready to share his music with his fans. Tracks from the album, such as “Adrenaline,” “Abafana,” “Khuzeka,” “Phanisha,” and “Konakele,” had already begun to gain traction online, thanks to the promotional efforts of event organisers, Shonale.
The night kicked off with a series of Amapiano mixes by DJs Bugy, Handsome, Vanss, Kai, and Kamali, who skillfully set the mood for the crowd at the legendary Kampala nightclub. At 2:20 a.m., Mas Musiq took to the stage to roaring cheers from his excited fans.
Performing a mix of songs from Lane Yam as well as his popular hits like “Sengizwile,” “Uzozisola,” and “Shona Malanga,” Mas Musiq delivered a high-energy performance that left fans captivated. Known for mixing his own tracks, he gave the audience a memorable live Amapiano experience.
I&M Bank Uganda’s involvement in the event reflects its growing role in supporting major entertainment events since its golden jubilee celebration in June.
The collaboration with Mas Musiq’s show allowed I&M Bank Mastercard holders to enjoy exclusive discounts, enhancing their overall experience.
“Tonight, we once again connected with some of our customers to share in the Amapiano excitement. I am sure those who are Amapiano lovers had a fantastic time watching Mas Musiq perform live. This aligns with our vision of providing enriching experiences that go beyond banking,” said Racheal Kulanyi, I&M Bank’s Communications and Outreach Officer.
The party continued into the early hours of Saturday morning, with the energy remaining high throughout the night.
