UNEB has announced that they will soon start marking of this year’s Primary Leaving Examinations and Uganda Certificate of Education exam scripts.
Addressing journalists at the Police headquarters in Naguru on Monday, UNEB spokesperson, Jennifer Kalule coordination centres have kicked off their work.
“The scripts have been sorted for transfer to the various marking centres. We have a total of 33 marking centres, 13 of which will be used for marking PLE scripts and 20 for marking UCE scripts,” Kalule said.
“About 6000 examiners have been invited to mark PLE while 8000 have been contracted to mark UCE exam scripts. We expect to release the first set of results for PLE during the third week of January 2024 and the results for UCE will follow suit a few weeks later.”
She said that S.6 candidates who have now started the third week of doing exams will complete UACE this week on Friday, December, 1.
“So far, the UACE exams have gone on well without any major challenges. We have had some minimal disturbances with the weather in some parts of the country but this didn’t distract the successful conduct of the examinations.”
Meanwhile, UNEB has dismissed as fake, a document that made rounds on social media last week claiming that there were mistakes in the just concluded UCE Physics papers which claimed that the exam body was going to recall the candidates to sit for a supplementary paper.
Kalule said the document is fake noting that there is no error in any of the papers done.
“All the test items for the board’s examination papers passed through a rigorous validity test and such no error was experienced. We have come to learn that the authors of such fake announcements are scheming to extort money from unsuspecting members of the public under the pretext of assisting them. Please, be informed that the UCE examination ended successfully and that the board is already handling the next processes and the field conduct of the examination.”
