Kawempe North MP, Muhammad Ssegirinya has been discharged from Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi where he has been receiving treatment for the last six months.
A video shared by his personal assistant on X showed a weak legislator who also had difficulty in speaking.
He however said he was looking forward to return home.
“I have been discharged, and I am heading home. To my voters, I assure you that everything is in order, and I am on my way back,” Ssegirinya said in the short video.
Ssegirinya’s Personal Assistant, Alex Luwemba said the legislator was advised to take three months of bed rest under medical supervision before resuming work.
The legislator was admitted to Aga Khan Hospital after return from the Netherlands where he was receiving treatment for an illness that deteriorated while in prison where he was jailed together with Makindye East MP Allan colleague, Allan Ssewanyana over the Masaka machete attacks.
The two legislators spent close to two years in prison.
