A national Unity Platform leaning Member of Parliament has written to the Speaker of Parliament saying she was hoodwinked into signing the censure motion against four commissioners of parliament accused of awarding themselves shs1.7 billion.
In a June, 4 letter to the speaker, Veronica Nanyondo, the Bukomansimbi Woman MP says she now seeks to withdraw her signature.
“I was hoodwinked into appending my signature to what was disguised as an attendance list to a meeting called by the Leader of the Opposition in his department’s boardroom this morning,” Nanyondo said .
“To this end, I am writing to categorically withdraw my signature and disassociate myself from the said list as it was in bad faith and I was misled into signing.”
The development comes at a time when NRM leaning MPs were asked not sign the censure motion until they get clearance from the party national chairman, President Museveni.
The NRM Caucus Vice spokesperson Herbert Kinobere said those who had already signed the censure motion could be asked to recall their signatures.
