Three family members who were returning to Kampala after attending a burial in Rakai have perished in a fatal accident on the Kampala-Masaka highway.
According to traffic police spokesperson, Michael Kananura, the accident happened at about 11:40pm at Kasule Ayanguwa swamp in Kamengo in Mpigi district.
“The preliminary report indicates that a Mitsubishi Fuso tuck registration number UAL 605 U had a head-on collision a Subaru Forester registration UBH 247L at Kasuule Ayanguwa swamp. The Fuso was coming from Kampala to Masaka side the Subaru Forester was from Masaka to Kampala. They collided, killing instantly three occupants in a Subaru Forester who included the driver and critically injured one other passenger in the same car,” Kananura said.
The UG Bulletin has separately learnt that all the deceased and the injured were family members who were returning to Kampala after attending a burial of another relative in Rakai district earlier in the day.
Police said the injured was rushed to Double cure in Mpigi for medical attention while the deceased bodies were conveyed to Gombe hospital mortuary for postmortem.
“Both motor vehicles were towed to Kamengo police station pending inspection.”
