Nambale Peace, a woman who was also in the same vehicle with Ndiga Buganda clan head Daniel Bbosa who was shot dead on Sunday evening has narrated events to and during the shooting.
Bbosa, 72, also the proprietor of TRANSA Electrical Company Limited was shot dead by assailants travelling on a motorcycle, armed with an AK 47 riffle as he approached his home in Lungujja, Lubaga division in Kampala.
Speaking to during the funeral in Lungujja, Nambale said as they approached home, Bbosa slowed down but a motorcycle with two occupants bypassed them.
“We were three occupants. I sat on the driver’s side. When he reduced speed, I saw a motorcycle with its passenger carrying a bag which had a protruding gun. I wanted to tap grandpa to ask him why private security guards had decided to move their guns in the bag. Before I could say it, he(Bbosa) shouted Jesus, those are wrong elements. He said it three times,” Nambale said.
According to Nambale, before Bbosa could finish the statement for the third time, the assailants who were riding on the driver’s side later made a sudden break infront of the vehicle.
Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga told journalists on Monday that the assailants reportedly first parked in a corner along the road, where they waited for the victim, as he approached the junction to his home, at Kikandwa zone, Lungujja Parish in Lubaga division.
They later rode past him, made a U-turn, faced the oncoming vehicle and shot the victim at close range, from the front side of the car.
Nambale narrated that after madding a sudden break infront of the vehicle, the assailants started firing.
“They fired the first bullet which hit grandpa. I bent down. Grandpa put up the hands but changed the mind and put hands on the head. Before I could know it, blood had spilled over my feet.”
Police said on Monday that three bullets hit Bbosa’s head killing him instantly while at the driver’s seat of the Land cruiser, registration number UAH 637X.
His wife Glady’s Bbosa and their housemaid, Nambale Peace, survived with no major injuries.
He noted that the killer gun has been retrieved whereas one of the suspects who was badly beaten has since gained consciousness and currently under close watch of detectives at Mulago Hospital where he is admitted.
Enanga also noted that while the shooting is still under investigation, and the motive not known, it appears to be a targeted incident.
“We are reviewing all CCTV footages, both public and private in the area, as part of investigations. Our task team of detectives have forwarded, the killer gun to the ballistic experts, to conduct an urgent trace of the origin of killer gun, when, where and to whom it was allocated. We are also analyzing all pieces of information available to us and continue to gather more leads.”
He identified two assailants as Serunkuma Enock who was killed on the spot by the mob and Lujja Noah who sustained injuries.
