A woman who accused her boyfriend of stealing her property has apologized for the accusations she made.
Winnie Namasere, 25 took to social media to accuser her boyfriend Timothy Lukyamuzi of stealing her household items.
She said that shortly after introducing him to her parents, Lukyamuzi had taken off with her belongings from an apartment she was living in Kyebando and asked members of the public to help her arrest the boyfriend over theft.
Boyfriend shows up
Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, said that Namasere opened up a case at Kanyanya police prompting investigation into the matter.
“Upon investigation, it was determined that during February 2024, Ms. Winnie left their shared residence due to domestic issues and sought refuge at her sister’s place, Nakasita Evelyn, in Namavundu Gayaza, Wakiso District,” Owoyesigyire said.
He said that according to Namaseke, on February 3, 2024, around 1 PM, she received a call from Lukyamuzi informing her that he had relocated their belongings to an undisclosed location following an eviction notice from their landlord.
She said despite attempts to reach him by phone, he was unreachable, prompting her to report the incident to the police as a case of domestic violence and theft.
“ Timothy voluntarily presented himself to the police and provided his statement, denying any intention of theft. He explained that he had transferred the belongings to his sister’s workplace for safekeeping while he searched for alternative housing. Subsequently, the missing items were recovered at his sister’s workplace with the assistance of the police.
