Betty Cherotich, a teacher has been arraigned before the Chief Magistrates Court in Masindi together with two others over the gruesome murder of the Masindi district health officer.
Cherotich, 31, Martin Kipsanga,42 and Joshua Namurenge, 36 were arraigned before chief magistrate, Kosia Kasibayo and murder charges read against them.
They were however not allowed to take plea(accept or deny the charges) since they are facing a capital offence only triable by the High Court.
The state prosecutor, Florence Akello told court investigations into the matter are still continuing and asked for more time to enable them be completed.
However, the trio asked that they are not remanded to the government prison in Masindi but rather prisons in Bukwo, their home district.
The magistrate however declined the request but rather remanded them to Hoima government prison until January, 30.
Police on Monday said Cherotich hired the two co-accused to kill her husband after finding out he had got a mistress.
Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga said Cherotich first tried to kill her husband’s mistress twice and that when this plot failed she turned onto Dr.Abiriga.
