Police have confirmed that House of Prayer Ministries’ Pastor Aloysius Bugingo was shot at using the same pistol that was used to kill vlogger Isma Olaxes aka Isma Tusubira last year.
Addressing journalists on Monday, Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga also announced that a shs20 million bounty has been put in place to whoever can provide information leading to the arrest of the shooters and the recovery of the pistol.
“There is substantial cash reward of shs20 million to whoever can lead us to the arrest of the suspect and recovery of killer weapon. Preliminary investigations have indicated that the pistol is the same used in the murder of Isma Olaxes,” Enanga said.
He added the mode of operation of the assailants in the two incidents is similar.
Unknown assailants traveling on a motorcycle targeted Bugingo’s vehicle in an incident that happened at around 9pm along Namungona , Zone 2 , Kasubi Rubaga Division Kampala at Bwalakata Junction along National Housing Road.
Bugingo’s bodyguard, Corporal Richard Muhumuza was killed by the assailants during the shooting.
Speaking on Monday, the police spokesperson also revealed that the Special Investigations Division of the Criminal Investigations Directorate has taken over investigations into the shooting.
He said the investigators at CID have since started gathering the required evidence to help in the investigations.
“We have put up a team to investigate the matter. The team has already obtained and continuing to obtain relevancy witness statements, got CCTV footage from main police CCTV cameras and private CCTVs, forensic and ballistic reports to aid in investigations.”
Police also warned members of the public against making speculations into the shooting , noting that the conspiracy theories hurt the relatives of the victims.
