The Uganda Cranes, will don special edition jerseys featuring a commemorative badge during their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match against South Sudan on Friday.
The badge marks the 100-year anniversary of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), the country’s football governing body.
The special badge, which will appear on the front of the jersey just above the players’ numbers, between the FUFA and Janzi (kit manufacturer) logos, was approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
FUFA unveiled the logo during its 100th Ordinary General Assembly held on October 4, 2024, at Maya Nature Resort in Wakiso.
FUFA Communications Director, Ahmed Hussein, confirmed that Uganda Cranes will wear the commemorative jersey throughout the remainder of their 2025 AFCON qualification campaign. The match against South Sudan marks the first of these appearances.
Uganda currently sits third in Group B of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, having secured 4 points from their first three games. They are trailing group leaders Burkina Faso and second-placed Malawi, making the upcoming matches crucial as they aim to secure a spot in the tournament.
